Terms of Service
Last updated: 25 June 2025
1. Acceptance of Terms
By accessing or using Firework Pet Alert (“the Service”), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Service Description
Firework Pet Alert is a free, community-driven notification platform that connects people planning firework displays with nearby residents and pet owners who would benefit from advance notice.
The Service is provided on an “as-is” basis. We make no guarantees regarding the accuracy, timing, or delivery of alerts. Alert coverage depends on community participation and the information provided by display organisers.
3. Accounts & Registration
- You must provide a valid email address to create an account.
- You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials.
- You must be at least 13 years old to create an account.
- One account per person. Automated or bulk account creation is prohibited.
- You agree to keep your account information accurate and up to date.
4. Acceptable Use
You agree not to:
- Submit false, misleading, or fabricated firework-display information.
- Use the Service to harass, abuse, or threaten other users.
- Upload content that is illegal, obscene, hateful, or infringes on third-party rights.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to the Service, other accounts, or our systems.
- Use automated scripts, bots, or scrapers to interact with the Service without prior written consent.
- Circumvent rate limits, security measures, or content-moderation filters.
- Impersonate another person or organisation.
5. User Content
You retain ownership of any content you submit (pet photos, stories, display details). By submitting content, you grant Firework Pet Alert a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide licence to display, distribute, and adapt your content solely for the purpose of operating and promoting the Service.
We reserve the right to remove any content that violates these Terms, our community guidelines, or applicable law, without prior notice.
Uploaded images are automatically converted to WebP format and may be resized for performance. Original files are not retained after processing.
6. Display Submissions
- Display organisers must provide accurate information about date, time, approximate location, and expected duration.
- Submitting a display does not constitute official permission or licensing for the firework display itself — you are responsible for obtaining all required licences and permissions from your local authority.
- Displays are subject to verification. We may remove unverified displays or displays that appear fraudulent.
- Each verified account has a limited number of display edits to prevent misuse.
7. Intellectual Property
The Firework Pet Alert name, logo, design, and all original site content are the property of Firework Pet Alert. You may not reproduce, distribute, or create derivative works from our branding or site content without prior written permission.
Map data is provided by OpenStreetMap contributors under the Open Data Commons Open Database Licence (ODbL).
8. Disclaimers
Firework Pet Alert is an information and notification service. We do not:
- Provide veterinary, medical, or professional animal-behaviour advice.
- Guarantee the accuracy or completeness of display information submitted by third parties.
- Guarantee that alerts will be delivered before every firework display in your area.
- Endorse or verify the safety practices of display organisers.
Always consult a qualified veterinarian for advice specific to your pet’s health and needs.
9. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, Firework Pet Alert and its operators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of revenue, or personal injury, arising from:
- Your use of, or inability to use, the Service.
- Any inaccuracies in display information provided by third-party users.
- Failure or delay in alert delivery due to technical issues, network conditions, or force majeure events.
- Actions taken (or not taken) based on information received through the Service.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or any other liability that cannot be excluded or limited under applicable law.
10. Termination
You may delete your account at any time through your dashboard or by contacting us. Upon deletion, your personal data will be removed in accordance with our Privacy Policy.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms, without prior notice. In the case of serious or repeated violations, we may permanently ban the associated email address.
11. Governing Law
These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of England and Wales. Any disputes arising from these Terms or your use of the Service shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
12. Changes to These Terms
We may revise these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.
